On June 9, the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) unveiled data revealing that the nationwide wholesale volume of passenger cars surged to 2.31 million units in May, marking a new monthly high. This figure represents a year-on-year increase of 12.8% and a month-on-month growth of 5.5%. Cumulatively, from January to May, wholesale sales amounted to 10.784 million units, up 11.5% year-on-year. The robust retail market performance slightly narrowed the year-on-year growth rate of passenger car wholesale in May, trailing the retail growth rate by 0.5 percentage points. Breaking down the figures, independent automakers accounted for 1.6 million units, posting a year-on-year jump of 24% and a monthly increase of 4%. Mainstream joint venture automakers wholesaled 461,000 units, experiencing a year-on-year decline of 3% but a monthly rise of 5%. Luxury car segment sales reached 237,000 units, showing a year-on-year decrease of 13% and a monthly surge of 12%.
