Tesla CEO Elon Musk has confirmed that the company will introduce an autonomous taxi service in Austin, Texas, by the end of June. Initially, a trial run will involve approximately 10 vehicles. Should this initial phase proceed smoothly without incident, the fleet will swiftly expand to encompass thousands of vehicles. Nevertheless, the safety of Tesla's full self-driving system is currently under scrutiny by US regulators, who have expressed particular concern regarding the operation of these driverless taxis in conditions of reduced visibility. Tesla intends to gradually extend this service throughout the United States, encompassing cities such as Los Angeles and San Francisco.
