On May 14, official statistics unveiled that BYD (01211.HK) has for the first time this year outpaced Toyota in car sales in Singapore, emerging as the most sought-after automotive brand in the local market. During the first four months of 2025, BYD sold 3,002 vehicles in Singapore, capturing a 20% share of the total market. In contrast, Toyota sold 2,050 units, while Tesla registered 535 sales. Prior to this, Toyota had consistently held the top spot in Singapore's car sales, recording 7,876 units sold in 2024, closely followed by BYD with 6,191 sales. BYD is currently undertaking aggressive expansion into overseas sales markets.
