On April 14, PwC unveiled its latest report, titled "Review and Future Outlook of M&A Activities in China's Auto Industry in 2024." The report highlights that China's auto industry witnessed robust M&A activities in 2024, with a total transaction value of nearly RMB 168.1 billion across 528 deals. Amidst challenges like escalating global geopolitical tensions and industrial chain restructurings, the decline in transaction value and volume compared to 2023 moderated to 32% and 3.6%, respectively. China's auto market is currently transitioning from an incremental to a stock market, thereby intensifying competition. Jin Jun, the lead partner for PwC China's automotive industry, emphasized that amidst the crucial period of transformation and upgrading within the industry, electrification and intelligence have emerged as key drivers. Chinese automakers must capitalize on these two advantages, intensify efforts in forward-looking technology R&D, and explore new avenues for business growth to adapt to evolving market dynamics. Additionally, a global strategy is imperative for Chinese automakers to achieve sustainable long-term development.
