Global electric vehicle (EV) registrations surged by 36.9% year-on-year in January-February this year, reaching a total of 2.508 million units. Leading the pack was Chinese automaker BYD, which sold 540,000 units, followed closely by Geely. Tesla, however, slipped to third place. The Hyundai Motor Group ranked eighth in the global standings. The Chinese market was particularly robust, accounting for 61.9% of global sales with 1.553 million units. Meanwhile, the European and North American markets also witnessed growth, with increases of 20.5% and 6.3%, respectively. Chinese brands are bolstering their international competitiveness through localized production overseas, but they must continue to strengthen their price advantages and adapt to regional policies to solidify their market positions.
