Tesla is set to introduce an innovative feature aimed at enhancing road safety for drivers. The feature operates by detecting the sound of sirens through the vehicle's microphone. Upon identifying a siren, the car will promptly alert the driver and automatically reduce the media volume, ensuring that the driver can clearly hear and respond to the emergency situation. This functionality necessitates microphone access, and all relevant data is stored securely within the vehicle by default. Notably, not only will the new Model Y benefit from this feature, but existing Tesla models may also leverage their cameras to assist in the detection process. Importantly, this feature is anticipated to be enabled by default across all Tesla models, irrespective of whether they are equipped with Full Self-Driving (FSD) or Autopilot capabilities.
