Effective March 12, 2025, the Canadian province of British Columbia has terminated government subsidies for the installation of Tesla charging stations. As per the announcement on the BC Hydro official website, the province and BC Hydro will henceforth prioritize Canadian products in their tax refund initiatives and exclude goods produced in the United States whenever feasible. This measure is primarily directed at Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Premier David Eby stated that the public is unhappy with the diversion of taxpayer funds to Musk, prompting the exclusion of Tesla from the subsidy program. Tesla has yet to issue a response on this matter.
