On March 12, Reuters-affiliated media outlet IFR reported that Avatr Technology, a Chinese electric vehicle (EV) company tied to Changan Automobile, is contemplating a listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Sources indicate that the company could submit its listing application as early as the second half of this year, with ambitions to raise approximately $1 billion. Established in 2018 as a joint venture between Changan Automobile and NIO, Avatr Technology subsequently saw NIO gradually phase out its involvement. In 2021, the company welcomed Huawei and Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) as investors and underwent a rebranding to Avatr, setting its sights on becoming a premier global smart EV brand. Last September, Changan Automobile disclosed to investors that Avatr Technology would advance market-oriented operations and pursue independent listing plans.
