Porsche Acquires Cylindrical Lithium-Ion Battery Business from Germany's VARTA AG

On March 1, 2025, Porsche officially acquired V4Drive AG, a subsidiary of Germany's VARTA AG, and renamed it V4Smart, assuming majority ownership. The two entities will integrate their technologies to collaboratively advance the production of high-performance batteries under the V4Smart brand. Porsche has commenced mass production of these branded batteries, destined for use in the new 911 GTS model. Furthermore, the newly established factory in Nordlingen will commence production of cylindrical batteries in April.
