The Government Work Report for 2024 highlights several notable achievements. In terms of innovation capacity, significant breakthroughs were made in integrated circuits, artificial intelligence, and other frontier fields, with Chang'e-6 successfully accomplishing the groundbreaking feat of lunar far-side sample return. The ecological environment continued to show signs of improvement, with a decrease in PM2.5 concentrations, an increase in the number of days with good air quality, an elevation in the proportion of high-quality surface water, a reduction of over 3% in energy consumption per unit of GDP, and a new installed capacity of renewable energy reaching 370 million kilowatts. On the front of reform and opening up, institutional reforms were successfully implemented, strides were made in establishing a unified national market, measures such as raising the retirement age were introduced, foreign investment access restrictions in the manufacturing sector were lifted, and cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative was further expanded and upgraded.
