Tesla is set to commence limited deliveries of its innovative two-seater Cybercab, engineered exclusively for autonomous driving, within the current year. Presently, the manufactured vehicles are predominantly utilized to bolster Tesla's in-house Robotaxi fleet, with subsequent distributions slated to progressively encompass third-party clients. It is anticipated that third-party fleet operators will be at the forefront of receiving these vehicles. The Cybercab does away with conventional control mechanisms like steering wheels, accelerators, and brake pedals, thereby establishing itself as a tool for shared transportation. Tesla has already commenced registration for expressions of interest in purchasing the Cybercab, albeit the precise business model is yet to be clarified. The company intends to amass operational insights through these initial deliveries before scaling up sales. At present, Tesla vehicle owners have access to the Full Self-Driving (Supervised) system, which necessitates the driver's preparedness to assume control at any given moment. In contrast, the fully autonomous iteration, devoid of driver supervision, is projected to debut in the second quarter of the forthcoming year. The commercialization of the Cybercab still encounters regulatory hurdles, and Tesla is proactively pursuing the requisite approvals to guarantee deployment in adherence to regulatory standards.
