On the afternoon of October 20, CATL introduced its Tianxing II "4+1" series battery solutions for heavy-duty trucks, featuring innovative products such as the ultra-light, ultra-thin, underfloor, and electric-electric range extender variants. Gao Huan, CTO of CATL's Domestic Passenger Vehicle & Commercial Vehicle Business Unit, explained that the electric-electric range extender version comprises an underfloor main drive battery and a rear-mounted range extender battery. The underfloor main drive battery offers two capacity options: 432 kWh or 513 kWh, while the rear-mounted range extender battery has a capacity of 77 kWh. CATL emphasized that the combination of electric-electric range extension technology and Qiji battery swap technology presents an optimal solution for the electrification of heavy-duty trucks. To achieve this vision, the company aims to establish 900 battery swap stations for heavy-duty trucks by the end of this year, expanding to 2,000 stations next year. Its ultimate objective is to deploy 10,000 stations nationwide, thereby promoting electric heavy-duty trucks as the preferred choice for China's mainline logistics sector.
