On October 15, reports indicated that Maroš Šefčovič, the European Commissioner responsible for Trade and Economic Security, commented on Friday that the agreement between China and the EU regarding hybrid vehicle exports reflects China’s consideration of European public sentiment. In response, He Yadong, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, stated at a regular press conference on the same day that the accord reached between the two parties in the hybrid vehicle sector is a mutually beneficial and reciprocal arrangement. This agreement adheres to three key principles within the framework of World Trade Organization (WTO) regulations: full compliance with procedures, respect for factual evidence, and non-discrimination. The consensus protects the legitimate interests of Chinese businesses while preventing an escalation of trade tensions between China and the EU. It highlights how, through consultations grounded in established rules, China and the EU can not only resolve disputes but also strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and foster balanced trade growth between the two economies.
