The 2026 Paris Motor Show is on the horizon, poised to feature an open trial session at the Intelligent Driving Lab, where enthusiasts and media representatives can apply for participation. Initially, invitations were extended to all automakers participating in the show. However, only XPENG and Tesla responded positively. This event will also herald the first large-scale public trial of XPENG's Navigation Guided Pilot (NGP) technology in Europe.
This year's motor show will see a total of 100 exhibitors setting up booths, with approximately 60 being automobile manufacturers, including a record-breaking 20 Chinese automobile brands. Some European media outlets have noted that only two automakers, one from China and one from the United States, are participating in this intelligent assisted driving trial event, with a notable absence of European brands. This situation prompts European automakers to ponder whether they are lagging in the race for next-generation automotive technologies.
