Liu Zhimin, Senior Director of Power Batteries at Li Auto, disclosed that the company is vigorously pushing forward the research and development of solid-state batteries. Currently, multiple development projects are progressing concurrently, and prototype validation for solid-state batteries has been successfully completed on eyewear products. Nevertheless, solid-state batteries still encounter obstacles regarding lifespan, charging efficiency, and cost. It is anticipated that it will take five years to achieve mature mass production in complete vehicles and guarantee a satisfactory user experience, with small-scale availability for vehicles projected by 2027 or 2028. Previously, Li Auto unveiled a new battery adoption strategy, with all models fully adopting self-developed batteries. At present, self-developed batteries have taken the lead in being scaled up for application across key models such as the Li L6, L8, and i8, with initial validation of their market adaptability and stability. In the future, all new and revised models will gradually transition to self-developed batteries, ensuring full coverage of self-developed batteries across the entire product range.
