The protest had been publicized the previous month, drawing participants from major companies including Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Bosch. At present, the German auto industry is grappling with numerous challenges. Volkswagen revised its annual profit projections downward last Friday, and if its restructuring plan is greenlit, the number of job cuts could surge to 100,000. Mercedes-Benz also lowered its sales outlook this summer, following the announcement of a cost-saving and efficiency-enhancing plan last year, which encompasses job reductions and the relocation of some production to lower-cost nations such as Hungary. In July, BMW's management struck a cost-cutting deal with labor representatives, a move that could impact up to 8,000 workers in Germany.
