Tesla is forging partnerships with Chinese supply chain companies to lay the groundwork for the large-scale production of its humanoid robot, Optimus. Lately, Tesla’s robotics team has conducted factory inspections at Ningbo-listed entities, including Tuopu Group, Sanhua Intelligent Controls, and Joyson Electronic. The objective is to identify suppliers for Optimus’s mass production and, potentially, to award contracts to these Chinese supply chain firms. Industry analysts highlight that, with the progression of intelligent technologies, numerous Chinese supply chain companies have diversified their operations from the automotive sector into robotics. As Tesla ramps up its robot production capabilities, the demand for components is set to surge dramatically. Consequently, Tesla is more likely to opt for Chinese companies that not only have the capability to develop robots but also boast a track record of collaboration in Tesla’s new energy vehicle business as their suppliers.
