Zhang Zhenlin, Chief Engineer of Intelligent Technology at Dongfeng Motor, revealed that Dongfeng’s humanoid robot is slated to begin factory operations in October of this year. It will take on production tasks including sorting and quality inspections. By the end of this year, the robot will undergo small-batch trial production, and its capabilities are expected to rival those of humans by the end of next year. Meanwhile, the company’s self-developed robotic dog will be implemented even more swiftly, serving as shopping guides in 4S stores, among other roles. By developing embodied intelligent products, automakers can leverage technologies from areas such as large automotive models to expedite the commercial mass production process. Looking ahead, automobiles themselves are poised to evolve into a form of embodied intelligent product. At the World Robot Conference held in August this year, Dongfeng unveiled its humanoid robot ‘Xiaodong’ and quadruped robot ‘Yuanzai.’ These robots are designed for automotive manufacturing material sorting and multi-service inspection scenarios, respectively, both advancing towards autonomous operation.
