The China Automobile Dealers Association has released the findings of its August 2026 'Automobile Dealer Inventory' survey, indicating that the overall inventory coefficient for auto dealers stood at 1.58 for the month. This marks a 6.8% uptick from the previous month and a notable 20.6% surge year-over-year. Although the automotive market exhibited signs of recovery in August, the end-consumer demand continued to fluctuate, exerting additional pressure on dealer inventories. The industry at large is currently navigating through a phase of stabilization and readjustment. Data sourced from the National Passenger Car Market Information Conference revealed that 1.541 million passenger cars were sold across the country in August. Consequently, it is projected that the cumulative inventory of automobile dealers at the close of August reached around 2.44 million units, reflecting a marginal rise in channel inventory levels compared to the end of July.
