On September 10th, Toyota Motor Corporation launched the GR Kart, priced at 385,000 yen (approximately $2,500), aiming to encourage potential Japanese racers to experience the joy of driving. This kart falls under Toyota's motorsport division, Gazoo Racing, and will be available for purchase at kart tracks nationwide and seven GR Garage stores starting Thursday. Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda, an avid racing enthusiast, has long lamented the declining interest in cars among Japanese youth. Toyota stated that this initiative aims to make motorsport as accessible as baseball or soccer. Currently, 36 kart tracks across Japan, from Hokkaido to Okinawa, are participating in the program, with Toyota planning further expansion.
