On September 8, Li Bin, the founder, chairman, and CEO of NIO, announced during an internal company address that, given the prevailing market trends, the monthly penetration rate of battery electric vehicle (BEV) models is anticipated to hit a record high before the year concludes, potentially exceeding 50%. According to the most recent sales figures for August released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), the overall penetration rate of new energy vehicles climbed to 65.2%, with BEVs constituting 45.3% of the new car market. Notably, BEVs emerged as the sole powertrain type to sustain growth. In August, the sales of BEV models soared to 8.6 times those of extended-range electric vehicles.
