UK Business and Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds stated that the government will not provide financial support in response to Jaguar Land Rover's layoff plans announced this week, emphasizing a non-interventionist approach to business operations. Affected by soaring costs, plummeting sales, and US tariffs, Jaguar Land Rover plans to cut up to 4,000 jobs over the next two years, primarily involving salaried employees and management teams, while production facility positions will remain unaffected. The company has initiated a voluntary exit program aimed at saving approximately £1.7 billion in costs and has lowered its break-even sales target from 380,000 units to 300,000 units.
