BYD has officially launched its flagship SUV in the Ocean Series, the Sealion 08, which comes with a total of 8 trim levels. Buyers have the option to choose between pure electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains, with prices spanning from 229,900 to 279,900 Yuan. Drawing inspiration from the Ocean S concept car, the Sealion 08 showcases a minimalist wraparound interior design, primarily in a light beige hue. It boasts a 12.3-inch full-LCD instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch adaptive rotating floating screen, and the latest DiLink intelligent cockpit system, though it lacks a front passenger entertainment screen.
With body dimensions measuring 5115x1999x1800mm and a wheelbase of 3030mm, the Sealion 08 is classified as a mid-to-large SUV. It is available in both five-seat and six-seat configurations. The higher trim levels feature zero-gravity seats in the second row, a ceiling-mounted entertainment screen, and are outfitted with luxurious amenities such as multi-layer sound insulation, a Dynaudio audio system, and three-zone independent climate control. High-end models also include a built-in refrigerator and a comprehensive fragrance system.
In terms of storage, the six-seat version offers a trunk capacity of 317L and a front trunk capacity of 201L (for the pure electric version). When the third-row seats are folded down, the maximum expandable capacity reaches 1173L. The five-seat version, on the other hand, provides a trunk capacity of 943L and a front trunk capacity of 201L (for the pure electric version), along with a total of 53 storage compartments throughout the vehicle.
The Sealion 08 is equipped with the second-generation Blade Battery and CTB (Cell-to-Body) battery integration technology, along with rear-wheel steering and the Yunjian-A system. The plug-in hybrid version is powered by a 1.5T hybrid system, available in both single-motor and dual-motor configurations, offering a maximum CLTC pure electric range of up to 400km. The pure electric version provides three powertrain options, paired with two battery types, delivering CLTC ranges of 710km, 800km, and 900km, respectively, catering to diverse driving needs.
