On August 21st, news emerged that Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and Tesla Motors (Beijing) Co., Ltd. had recently submitted a recall plan to the State Administration for Market Regulation, in compliance with the Regulations on the Recall Management of Defective Automotive Products and its corresponding enforcement guidelines. Specifically, when the assisted steering function is engaged alongside the combined driving assistance system, the current attention monitoring mechanism in the affected vehicles fails to adequately alert drivers when their gaze strays. Should the driver not intervene promptly, this heightens the likelihood of a collision, thereby presenting a safety risk.

To mitigate this issue, Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will utilize Over-the-Air (OTA) technology to provide complimentary software updates for the vehicles within the recall scope. The aim is to diminish the collision risk. The update will introduce in-cabin camera monitoring capabilities, supplementing the existing steering wheel torque monitoring. This enhancement will further prompt drivers to uphold their driving responsibilities, adhere to traffic regulations, and maintain vigilance towards the surrounding traffic environment when the combined driving assistance function is activated.

Users can carry out the software update without the need to visit a store. For vehicles that are not compatible with OTA technology for the update, Tesla service centers will reach out to the relevant users to facilitate the recall process and eliminate potential safety hazards.
