On the 20th local time, Alphabet's Waymo publicly unveiled its autonomous driving computing system for Robotaxi for the first time. This system combines data center-level performance with adaptability to in-vehicle environments, achieving a 20-fold increase in raw computing performance over eight years, and is equipped with a low-latency software stack. Through redundant backup with dual computing engines, the system's reliability has been significantly enhanced. The system integrates heterogeneous CPUs, GPUs, accelerators, and advanced machine learning technologies, and includes self-developed components. Waymo also officially introduced its custom 5nm ASIC chip, designed specifically for real-time processing, sensor data fusion, and advanced neural networks. This chip can extract critical information from raw data streams of various sensors, with machine learning computing power exceeding 1000 TOPS, used for front-end processing and machine learning.
