On August 21, news emerged that the Standardization Administration of China announced the approval of an international standard proposal by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The proposal, titled 'Guidelines for the Application, Test Items, and Conditions of Solid-State Batteries for Secondary Lithium-Ion Batteries in Electric Vehicle Propulsion', was put forth by China and has now become the inaugural international standard in the realm of solid-state batteries.

Solid-state batteries are widely regarded as a pivotal advancement for the next generation of lithium-ion batteries. When juxtaposed with conventional liquid batteries, they boast numerous benefits, including extended driving range, enhanced safety, and more consistent performance. Leveraging China's extensive expertise in solid-state battery research and development, this newly established international standard will delineate precise testing protocols for solid-state batteries. It aims to provide a uniform benchmark for automotive companies worldwide in their research, development, and production of solid-state batteries. This, in turn, will facilitate the broader adoption of safer, long-range electric vehicles and expedite the growth of the new energy industry.
