On August 20, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobile Technology (Wuhan) Co., Ltd. was officially established in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone, boasting a registered capital of approximately RMB 8.2 billion. The venture is a collaborative effort among Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobile, Dongfeng Motor, Stellantis Group, Changjiang Industry Group, Wuhan Finance Holdings Group, and the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone Industrial Investment Group.
The new company's business scope is extensive, encompassing complete vehicle R&D, industrial investment, and the sales of new energy vehicles. In its initial phase, four new energy vehicle models are slated for development, spanning battery electric and plug-in hybrid technologies. These models are anticipated to be introduced sequentially from 2027 onwards, catering to a variety of mobility requirements.
Serving as a pivotal platform for the strategic partnership between Dongfeng and Stellantis, the new entity will underpin the development and industrialization of two models each for the Jeep and Peugeot brands. These vehicles will be manufactured at the Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobile plant in Wuhan and distributed worldwide. The collaborating parties will harness their respective strengths to foster in-depth integration and enhancement of the industrial ecosystem and global market presence.
It is noteworthy that Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobile, founded 34 years ago by the predecessors of Dongfeng and Stellantis, has successfully sold over 6.5 million vehicles under the Peugeot and Citroën brands, marking it as a significant emblem of Sino-French economic and trade collaboration.
