On August 17, during Geely Automobile’s interim results briefing, An Conghui, CEO of Geely Holding Group, provided an in-depth overview of Geely Automobile’s overseas expansion strategy. Geely plans to leverage resources from both its in-house brands and external strategic partners to collaboratively invest, develop, and share production capabilities, local supply chains, talent pools, distribution channels, and service networks. An Conghui disclosed that Volvo’s European manufacturing facility will serve as a pivotal hub for Geely’s European operations, tasked with producing premium luxury vehicles under Geely’s brand umbrella, with production slated to begin in 2028. Simultaneously, Proton, the Malaysian automaker acquired by Geely, is undergoing technological enhancements and will be transformed into a production base in Southeast Asia, boasting an annual capacity of 500,000 vehicles. Furthermore, Geely’s joint venture with Ford in Spain will also manufacture Geely-branded models, with a production capacity of 500,000 vehicles, and is expected to commence operations in 2028. During the briefing, Geely Automobile Group also announced that it has revised its export target for 2026 upwards, from 640,000 vehicles to 920,000 vehicles, with the ambition to achieve sales of one million vehicles.
