Mitsubishi Motors is stepping on the gas to broaden its pure electric vehicle (EV) portfolio. Mitsubishi Australia has recently confirmed that the brand-new pure electric crossover, the ASX VR-e, will make its debut in the local market in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The ASX VR-e has been designed by the illustrious Italian design house Pininfarina. It sports a sleek and futuristic appearance, highlighted by a through-front-light design and a concave 'grille'.
Built on the Foxtron Bria platform, the ASX VR-e comes with two powertrain choices: a rear-wheel-drive setup with a single motor and an all-wheel-drive configuration with dual motors. These powertrains deliver maximum outputs of 232 horsepower and 407 horsepower, respectively. The NEDC range is rated at 516 kilometers for the rear-wheel-drive model and 466 kilometers for the all-wheel-drive variant. Both versions support 134kW DC fast charging.
The new car measures 4,315mm in length, 1,885mm in width, and 1,535mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,800mm. Positioned as a compact SUV, its starting price is anticipated to hover around 40,000 Australian dollars.
