As reported by Reuters, on August 14, autonomous driving firm Pony.ai and global mobility giant Uber unveiled an expansion of their strategic partnership, with ambitions to deploy over 2,000 robotaxis across five European cities. This collaboration will not only cover Zagreb, Croatia, but also extend its reach to four other European cities, the specifics of which, along with their respective rollout schedules, will be disclosed incrementally. The Middle East market has also been earmarked for inclusion in these expansion endeavors. Under this partnership, Pony.ai will contribute its L4 autonomous driving technology and operational acumen, while Uber will leverage its strengths in user acquisition, ride-hailing services, and payment processing. The day-to-day management of the fleet will be entrusted to local partners.
