On July 27, the General Office of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in conjunction with Department of Equipment Industry I, organized a media symposium to provide an update on the progress of encouraging key auto enterprises to shorten payment periods for their suppliers. Since June 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has been actively pushing 17 major auto enterprises to comply with the 'Regulations on Ensuring Payments to Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises' and has introduced a '60-Day Payment Period Commitment'. Concurrently, it has directed the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers to launch an initiative for standardized account payments and has opened an online portal for reporting issues, employing a multi-faceted approach to reduce payment periods for suppliers. Nevertheless, a handful of auto enterprises continue to engage in practices such as concealed extensions of payment periods, including delayed commencement of calculation periods and non-standardized process management, necessitating further oversight and enhancement. Moving forward, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will work hand-in-hand with relevant departments to expedite the creation and dissemination of guidelines for standardized account payments, intensify supervision and corrective actions against auto enterprises that covertly extend payment periods, and ramp up regulatory and enforcement actions against those suspected of infractions to protect the lawful rights and interests of supply chain enterprises, especially small and medium-sized enterprises.
