On July 15, Toyota Auto Body, a subsidiary under the Toyota Motor Corporation umbrella, officially notified Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of its decision to recall 11,467 units of the single-seat compact battery electric vehicles (BEVs), branded as "COMS". These vehicles, manufactured between July 2012 and April 2025, are being recalled owing to identified defects in the parking brake (handbrake) mechanism. To date, the company has received 32 reports concerning brake malfunctions. It is noteworthy that Toyota Auto Body conducted a similar recall in January of this year, addressing issues with the parking brake cable, with a certain degree of overlap in the vehicles affected by both recalls.
