In May 2026, China imported 38,000 finished automobiles, up 40.4% month-on-month but down 18.6% year-on-year; the import value reached USD 1.79 billion (approximately RMB 12.146 billion), up 36.7% month-on-month and down 25.0% year-on-year. From January to May 2026, a total of 163,000 automobiles were imported, down 10.6% year-on-year; the total import value was USD 7.54 billion (approximately RMB 51.163 billion), down 19.2% year-on-year. Looking back at the whole year of 2025, the total import volume of finished automobiles was 476,000 units, down 32.4% year-on-year; the total import value was USD 23.64 billion (approximately RMB 160.409 billion), down 39.7% year-on-year.
