Thailand's Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) has taken legal action by filing a civil lawsuit against Volvo Car (Thailand) Limited, following reports of battery fires in its EX30 electric vehicles (EVs). This month alone, two such fire incidents have been reported in Thailand, involving the EX30 model, of which there are currently 1,600 units circulating in the Thai market. Despite these incidents, Volvo has maintained that the occurrence rate is minimal, stating that the percentage of affected vehicles is significantly less than 0.1%. In response to the safety concerns, the automaker has advised owners to avoid charging their vehicle batteries beyond 70% capacity temporarily. Throughout the course of negotiations, Volvo has put forth proposals including battery replacements and the provision of temporary replacement vehicles. However, these measures have been met with resistance from the vehicle owners, the majority of whom are insisting on full refunds. As of now, Volvo Thailand has not issued any statements in response to media inquiries.
