Tesla has updated its usage protocols with the FSD v14.3.2 and 2026.2.9.9 software releases, mandating that drivers provide feedback whenever they take manual control of the vehicle. The feedback prompt will remain visible until the driver either selects a predefined reason for the takeover or records a voice explanation. To comply, drivers must tap the screen to choose from four takeover reasons or use the steering wheel microphone to record verbal feedback. Notably, the interface lacks both a timeout feature and a close button; however, users can dismiss the prompt by double-tapping the microphone button to submit blank voice feedback.
Tesla's initiative is designed to enhance data quality by collecting structured, high-value data to refine AI training models. Nevertheless, the approach has sparked criticism from numerous Tesla owners, who argue that the persistent pop-up disrupts the driving experience.
