Recently, Honda Motor's journey towards electrification has hit a roadblock. As per reports from Japanese media on May 6, which cited informed sources, Honda has opted to indefinitely suspend its plans for constructing an electric vehicle factory in Canada, attributing the decision to lackluster market demand in the United States. The initial blueprint entailed a substantial investment of 15 billion Canadian dollars (around 11 billion US dollars) to establish an electric vehicle assembly facility with an annual production capacity of 240,000 units, alongside a battery plant capable of producing 36GWh annually in Alliston, Ontario. Production was slated to kick off in 2028.
