On April 20, Samsung SDI announced the signing of a multi-year battery supply agreement with Mercedes-Benz, marking its first entry into the latter's battery supply system. Samsung SDI will provide high-nickel NCM ternary lithium batteries for Mercedes-Benz's next-generation compact/mid-size electric SUVs and coupe models. These batteries feature high energy density, long range, and incorporate Samsung SDI's proprietary safety solutions. The two companies will also jointly develop next-generation battery technologies.
