By 2026, the physical dimensions of new energy vehicles (NEVs) are projected to keep expanding. Flagship models like the NIO ES9 and Zhijie V9 are expected to typically measure nearly or over 2 meters in width and exceed 5.2 meters in length. Nevertheless, the current standards for parking spaces in China still adhere to those established in 2015, with compact parking slots measuring a mere 2.4 meters in width. This discrepancy poses significant challenges for NEV owners, making parking and exiting their vehicles cumbersome and increasing the likelihood of vehicle scratches. Consequently, there is a growing demand among citizens for the revision of parking space design standards to better accommodate the evolving sizes of new energy vehicle models.
