The latest Li Auto L8 has made its appearance on the roster of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, marking a significant shift from a six-seater to a roomy five-seater configuration. This move signals a strategic realignment of the Li Auto L series' future product lineup, with the L9 and L8 now positioned as flagship models, specifically targeting the six-seater and five-seater segments, respectively. Meanwhile, the L7 and L6 are set to be positioned as premium offerings, with the L7 being a six-seater and the L6 a five-seater.
As a cutting-edge flagship five-seater SUV, the L8 aspires to blend the sporty prowess of the BMW X5M with the luxurious spaciousness of the Maybach GLS. Deliveries are slated to commence in the third quarter. Its front-end design adopts the aesthetic of the L9, featuring enlarged dimensions, a reduced front overhang, and novel side configurations, including an optionally available electrically retractable pedal, among other enhancements. All variants can be optionally fitted with side/rear solid-state lidar for advanced sensing capabilities.
In terms of powertrain, the L8 is outfitted with a next-generation 1.5T range extender, complemented by front and rear dual motors and a proprietary battery system. This setup enables a WLTC-rated pure electric range of up to 343 kilometers, offering a blend of performance and efficiency.
