On April 9, news emerged that BYD and KFC inked a strategic cooperation pact in Shenzhen on April 8. The two entities are set to amalgamate their respective strengths in the domains of new energy vehicles and catering retail, embarking on an in-depth collaboration centered around flash-charging technology, intelligent cockpits, and KFC's drive-thru services. Together, they aim to co-create a novel ecosystem that offers a '9-minute one-stop energy replenishment solution for both people and vehicles'. While driving, users can place orders and complete payments via voice commands. Upon arrival at a KFC drive-thru outlet, they can simply roll down the window to collect their meals while their vehicle charges at a designated BYD flash-charging station. This setup enables the simultaneous pickup of meals and charging of vehicles in a mere 9 minutes. BYD will be the pioneer in introducing this functionality in its Fangchengbao Titan 7 model and will progressively extend it to key models across multiple brands within the entire group. The vehicle's infotainment system will also seamlessly align the driving route with the meal pickup process, automatically triggering a pickup reminder as the vehicle nears the restaurant. The BYD flash-charging ecosystem will be gradually integrated into KFC's nationwide network of drive-thru stores. Leveraging the second-generation Blade Battery and flash-charging technology, vehicles can recharge from 10% to 97% in just 9 minutes.
