An overseas blogger has disclosed that the standard version of the Tesla Model 3 is poised to make its entry into the Chinese market, with a dedicated production line already established at the Shanghai Gigafactory. This particular model was initially unveiled in October of the previous year and has since been rolled out in several countries. In South Korea, it hit the shelves at the end of January, boasting a recommended price tag of approximately RMB 198,000 and a subsidized price of under RMB 180,000.
To rein in costs, the standard version has shed around 20 non-essential features. For instance, it now sports fabric seats instead of premium ones and has done away with ventilation and ambient lighting. Towards the end of last year, the 'Model 3 Standard Range Plus' made an appearance in the catalog of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. This variant is outfitted with a 52.9kWh battery, boasts a CLTC range of up to 480 kilometers, utilizes a rear-wheel-drive motor, and can sprint from 0-100km/h in roughly 6.2 seconds. Drawing parallels with the pricing in the South Korean market, it is anticipated that the Chinese launch price will dip below RMB 200,000.
