On February 14, news emerged that Beijing Benz Automotive Co., Ltd. had formally submitted a recall proposal to the State Administration for Market Regulation. This action was taken in strict compliance with the "Regulations on the Recall of Defective Automotive Products" and its corresponding enforcement guidelines. The recall is set to commence on June 25, 2026, targeting a specific batch of domestically-produced EQA and EQB vehicles manufactured from April 1, 2021, to March 12, 2024, encompassing a total of 19,481 units.

The root cause of this recall lies in the production process variability of the high-voltage batteries installed in these vehicles, which has compromised their overall reliability. Furthermore, the control strategy employed by the battery management system software may inadvertently impose excessive strain on individual battery cells. This heightened stress increases the likelihood of internal short circuits, which, in turn, could potentially trigger vehicle fires, thereby presenting a significant safety risk.

This recall initiative has been prompted by the initiation of a defect investigation by the State Administration for Market Regulation. To mitigate the identified hazards, Beijing Benz will undertake the replacement of the high-voltage batteries in all affected vehicles. This replacement process will be carried out through authorized dealerships, ensuring a standardized and efficient resolution to the issue.
