Ford Motor Company's performance in 2025 was far from satisfactory, suffering a net loss of $8.182 billion for the entire year, marking a 239.17% year-on-year decline. Moreover, its sales also saw a drop of approximately 2%. Nevertheless, Ford's CEO, Jim Farley, still made the decision to announce a 30% increase in bonuses for all employees. He justified this move by pointing out that the initial quality of Ford's new vehicles had reached the highest level in a decade. Additionally, it's worth noting that Farley also holds a position as a director of McDonald's. Although Ford's revenue in 2025 hit a record high, its aggressive electrification strategy came at a steep cost. The company recorded a special item expense of $15.5 billion in the fourth quarter, which ultimately led to the massive loss. It is anticipated that the electric vehicle business will continue to be in the red for at least another three years. Unstable supply chains and erratic tariff policies have further exacerbated the situation by driving up costs. However, Ford's traditional vehicle sales business held up relatively well, with an adjusted full-year profit of $6.8 billion. Looking ahead, Ford remains optimistic about 2026, expecting its adjusted earnings before interest and taxes, as well as its free cash flow, to stage a rebound.
