On February 13, figures released by the China Automobile Dealers Association revealed that in January 2025, the total number of used car transactions across the country hit 1.7292 million units. This represented a 7.59% decline compared to the previous month, yet marked an impressive 18.33% increase on a year-on-year basis, with the total transaction value reaching 110.612 billion yuan.
In January, the used car market displayed notable variations in vehicle model compositions. Both the passenger and commercial vehicle segments outperformed their counterparts from the same period the previous year. Specifically, transactions of basic passenger vehicles demonstrated steady growth, with a significant year-on-year uptick. SUV sales also rose, boasting a prominent growth rate that underscored the market's enduring vitality. The demand for MPV models continued to intensify, experiencing a substantial year-on-year increase and emerging as a key contributor to market expansion. Additionally, the activity surrounding cross-type passenger vehicles improved, showing consistent year-on-year growth.
The commercial vehicle market, as a whole, outshone its performance from the previous year. Transactions of both passenger and freight vehicles registered positive year-on-year growth, characterized by significant growth rates. This reflected a continuous enhancement in market activity and a favorable trajectory for development.
