Recently, China’s independently developed “Snow Leopard” 6×6 wheeled all-terrain vehicle successfully completed a rigorous testing mission spanning over 10,000 kilometers in the Antarctic inland. This achievement effectively bridges a technological gap in China’s polar inland wheeled vehicle capabilities. Over the course of 75 days, the vehicle underwent comprehensive evaluations of its passability, stability, and safety across five distinct Antarctic terrains: sea ice, gravel, soft snow, hard snow, and solid ice. Notably, its operational speed significantly surpasses that of traditional tracked vehicles, signaling China’s progress in polar exploration toward a model characterized by high mobility, efficiency, and load-bearing capacity.
