According to a report issued by the German Association of the Automotive Industry on February 4, electric vehicle (EV) production in Germany soared to 1.67 million units in 2025, representing a 23% year-on-year surge and setting an all-time high. Of this total, battery electric vehicle (BEV) production accounted for 1.22 million units, while plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) production reached 450,000 units. Despite the rapid acceleration towards electrification, Germany’s overall automotive production in 2025 stood at 4.15 million units, marking a comparatively modest level since 2019.
