On January 29th, He Xiaopeng, Chairman of XPENG Motors, revealed that the electronic and electrical architecture, co-developed with Volkswagen Group, had been successfully implemented. The inaugural model to feature this architecture, the 'ZhiYong 07,' has officially commenced production. This collaborative architecture was the result of an 18-month joint effort between Volkswagen (China) Technology Co., Ltd., CARIAD China, and XPENG Motors, marking the fastest development time for a brand-new electronic and electrical architecture within the Volkswagen Group's history. The CEA architecture achieves a roughly 30% reduction in the number of electronic control units, streamlining system complexity and laying a robust technical groundwork for AI-driven smart cockpits and cutting-edge driver assistance capabilities. Volkswagen intends to integrate this architecture into its locally manufactured pure electric vehicle lineup starting in 2026, with plans to unveil five new models this year.
