The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Tuesday that Germany's Volkswagen will recall 44,551 ID.4 electric vehicles in the United States, all related to battery fire risks. According to the first report submitted by Volkswagen, 670 units of 2023-2024 model year ID.4 vehicles will be recalled due to a potential manufacturing defect in electrode misalignment within the high-voltage battery cell modules during a specific production period, which may lead to battery fires.
