On January 16th, data from the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance revealed that across the entirety of 2025, China's cumulative production of power and energy storage batteries soared to 1,755.6 GWh, marking a significant 60.1% year-on-year increase. The cumulative sales volume soared to 1,700.5 GWh, a notable 63.6% surge compared to the previous year. Within this total, the cumulative sales of power batteries reached 1,200.9 GWh, constituting 70.6% of the overall sales and experiencing a 51.8% year-on-year growth. Meanwhile, the cumulative sales of energy storage batteries hit 499.6 GWh, making up 29.4% of the total sales and achieving a remarkable 101.3% year-on-year increase. Focusing solely on December, the sales of power and energy storage batteries climbed to 199.3 GWh, reflecting an 11.1% month-on-month rise and a 57.5% year-on-year jump. Specifically, power battery sales amounted to 143.8 GWh, accounting for 72.1% of the total sales, with a 7.3% month-on-month increase and a 49.2% year-on-year uptick. Energy storage battery sales, on the other hand, reached 55.6 GWh, representing 27.9% of the total sales, and witnessed a 22.4% month-on-month growth and an 84.0% year-on-year spike.
