On January 4th, Beijing Time, the UK's Financial Times reported that the global automotive industry's shift from traditional fuel-powered vehicles to new energy vehicles is facing significant hurdles. By 2026, electric vehicle (EV) sales are projected to experience their slowest annual growth since the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020. Research institutions forecast that global EV sales will increase by 13% in 2026, reaching 24 million units—a marked slowdown from the approximately 22% growth expected in 2025. Regionally, the U.S. market is anticipated to see a 29% decline, with sales dropping to 1.1 million units. In contrast, Europe is expected to witness a 14% rise, reaching 4.9 million units, while China is projected to grow by 17%, hitting 15.5 million units. However, all these growth rates are notably lower than previous years.
